New at Sutori #2 - Story Capsule Re-Design

We’ve been spending a lot of time lately thinking about ways to make the Sutori experience better for users — easier, more fun, more clearly useful. One of the first real changes to come out of all this thinking is the newly re-designed story capsule.

We chose the story capsule first because it’s the fundamental browsing unit. The summary view of a story that users can skim through as the decide when and if they want to go deeper.

Here’s what it used to look like.

And here’s the new version:

The biggest changes are:

  • Instead of representing the stories goodwill rating with a single block of color, we show the entire spectrum of goodwill with a dot to represent this story’s rating (far left).
  • The agree/disagree numbers are clearly identified as such.
  • The name of the company is now featured right next to the title.

Early feedback has been mostly positive, although some of you have indicated that without the thick blocks of warm color the home page looks a bit colder. Hopefully, the improved usability makes up for this aesthetic trade-off.

As always, we’re dying to hear your thoughts . . . so what do you think?

New feature . . . official company responses

The ultimate aim of Sutori is for stories from real customers to reach the ears of the companies those stories are about. And for that connection to to ultimately lead to some sort of positive change (problems solved, better policies, better products etc.).
With this in mind, we’ve added a new feature that allows companies to post and official response to any story. These responses are similar to comments, except they will be clearly marked as officially coming from the company involved.

Here’s how it works.

Beneath each story and above the comments, we’ve added this . . .

Click on the link text (”I am authorized . . .”) and we’ll ask you a few questions so we can confirm that you are who you say you are.

Once that application is received and your identification is confirmed, you’ll be able to post a response right there on the story page.

Simple as that.

So . . . who’ll be the first company to join the conversation?

Every picture helps tell a story

You can now upload a photo to complement your story. Here’s what I’ve added to my story about the shoes that kept falling apart.

Have a go an let us know what you think.
